Internet browsing

I have noticed that my internet connection appears to stay on for some time after browsing, is that normal? is there a way to stop the connection?

Power Hero from www.hobbyistsoftware.com has an option for disconnecting after a set period of time.

There is also an small app. called "Network Down" it is a one click program wich closes your network connections. I used it before and it is simple and works well.
