I was hoping I could get a little information and feedback. I lost my 680 over the weekend, and thankfully was able to get it back. I thought I saw somewhere that there is a security application that enables you to not only remotely lock your device but also locate it it via GPS. Has anyone heard of such a thing? Or if not, can you recommend something that would allow me to at least lock my device out to others if it is stolen or lost again? Thanks.
There are apps that can remotely lock your treo, should it become lost of stollen. Basically, with such an app installed, you dial your phones number and then a special password that you assigned when you activated the phone. This locks down the phone until you physically type in that password . . . Better than nothing, but not much better than not getting lost or stollen to begin with. I am pretty sure the GPS thing doesn't work with Treos. It might work with phones that have built in GPS such as several of the HP Smart Phones, I am not sure . .
For security, I recommend TealLock 6, BluePill, Warden, Butler and mSafe. The heavy weights are TealLock 6 and Warden. The one though that provides locking before you know it is BluePill, which I use in conjunction with TealLock 6. The link for BluePill is http://www.palmpowerups.com/modules....howpage&pid=13.
I have licenses for TealLock 5 and 6, Bluepill, Butler, mSafe and test drove Warden for a short period. Of the group, I felt the most secure with TealLock 6 and for over all zapping power, BluePill.
Attached is a copy of my TealLock 6 screen. The screen is set to allow the person to only call my other cell phone number.
