Missed calls and messages when phone is turned off

I recently learned someone called me 6 times while I had my phone off during a flight. After I turned the phone back on, the phone did not record those calls as missed. Is that normal behavior or should the missed calls have appeared?
Also, I didn't receive any text messages.

The rep at AT&T thought I should have received the text messages, but didn't know about the missed call log.

Does anyone out there know?

Receipt of the text messages depends on the amount of time between when the text messages were sent and when your phone reconnected to the network. Every phone that I've had has an option for how long your sent messages are valid. If the message is not successfully delivered within that time frame, it disappears. I think the default is usually 8 hours (it was for my last phone).

As for the "missed" calls, no, you should not have recieved notification of these calls. Technically the calls were not missed, they were never recieved. The call log is a feature of the phone not the network. Therefore when the phone is not on the call log is not active.
