    Default MP3 files as ringtones??

Help. I have tried everything to get my mp3 files to play as ringtones. they don't show up in the sounds area so I can use them as ringtones. I downloaded MiniTones but apparently don't know how to use the software??

Can someone help a technically incompetent user figure out how to use existing MP3 files already on my Treo680 as ringtones??

    Thanks,

    Rick

Do a search in the software section for two programs MusicTones and MiniTones. both of these will let you use mp3s as ringtones and add them to your ringtone file.

Sorry, I don't know anything about minitones. In MusicTones, if you have mp3 files on your SD card or loaded on your phone, you should be able to see a list of directories where the mp3s might be, choose it then start choosing the mp3s to edit as ringtones.

Minitones and the other application, MusicTones both work much the same. The applications look to the AUDIO folder on the card for the file(s) to convert and after the conversion, the files are saved to the device. The problem though is that these tones/files are not small. The better way to approach ring tones is a ring-tone manager that works from the card.

I personally use Ringo and it works great for me. Very easy to use, and haven't encountered a problem yet.

To make ringtones I go the website www.makeownringtone.com
If you have the song you want as your ringtone you upload it to that website and you can cut a section that you want, and add a couple different effx, such as fade in and out.

You can also do this with a freeware program called Audacity.
