MP3 player that works?
I'm trying to get my music on my 680, having some problems. :frown:
1. Downloaded some .mp3's onto my SD card, fed it to the Treo. It only sees a few of the songs (17). When I look at the SD card on my computer, I can see way more than the Treo can see (62). Any suggestions?
2. Gotta be better freeware for playing MP3s than Pocketunes! Almost impossible to select the song I want from the list, when I try to navigate in the list, it hops all over the place, never to the song I want. And I can't use the up/down buttons because they control volume while Pocketunes ignores the external volume control built into the phone! Is this terrible utilization of the hardware or what? What freeware have some of you found works on the Treo?
Thanks in advance!

What folder do you have the files in? If it is the root folder, that may be a problem. The files should go to the /AUDIO folder.

My external volume controls work just fine. In addition to benjie's advice, make sure you haven't set up a playlist and that's why you're only seeing select songs. try hitting menu+'O' and see if you can manually open the files.

You can try downloading the upgraded version of ptunes under palmgear.com. Also, make sure that when your under ptunes its not in the shuffle mode :-)

Hey Ben -- how is that accomplished? I've been prowling all through the Treo and can't even get it to acknowledge that there is any such folder.
Thanks!

The /Audio folder is on the card; however, it is not created automagically in some situations. It has been a while since I thought of the automagical thing, but I think when you transfer WAV files to the card, the OS creates the /Audio folder - or something like that.
Anyway, the /Audio folder is on the card and creating that folder is a snap if you have a file management application (FileZ) to create the folder or some of the third party launchers can do this (ZLauncher). So, however you create that folder, do it and then move your noise files to it and pTunes will be happy.

Thank you, Ben. The expansion card is next on my list of purchases -- seems the 680 itself won't accept mp3 uploads, for some reason.
Reply much appreciated!

On the card, take your time to pick a good one. A big/cheap card may give you BIG problems down the road. I have always stuck with SanDisk and there are sizes that fit most every need. I personally am not in to that much noise, so I use a 2GB.

That is good information, Ben. Thank you again.
I LIKE music, it is a big part of my life and lifestyle, but even so I think a 2GB disk should be plenty.
I'll check out SanDisks online here shortly.
If no one else has told you today, you rock.
