A list of software I use, though not to be considered as "must have."
2Day - interface for the calander - love it. - RAM
4Cast - is it going to be another beautiful day here in paradise? - RAM
Blue Diamond - game for killing time. - CARD
BDicty - speller I use with DTG. - CARD
Bejeweled2 - game for killing time - used once. - CARD
BluePill - used to wipe the Treo and/or SD card if it gets lost. It works. - RAM
BTOff and BTOn - utilities from Hobbistsoftware for turning off the Bluetooth radio function. I ONLY use BTOff as it turns on the BT if it is off and turns it off if it is on. - CARD
Butler - I use this for nagging; the wife for an alarm and nagging. It has the remote security features that I do not use (BluePill instead). - RAM
Bzzz - a game to kill time with. - CARD
CallRec V4 - recording meetings and calls - this works very well for me.
ChatterEMail - the king of POS email applications - on 24/7. - RAM
Cleanup - one of the Northglide utilities for keeping the device relatively clean of lonesome files. - RAM
Comet - a phone log application that beats the pants off of the default logger. - RAM
Cradle Robber - when enabled and plugged in to the power/sync cable, removing it from the cable sets an alarm that is really annoying. RAM
CradleCare - bunches of different functions - I use it to monitor the SD card. - RAM
Cubis - another stupid game. - CARD
Currency - watching the value of money - CARD
Datebook 6 - one of two applications that are available as top of the line replacements for the built-in calander application. I use this every day. - RAM
DateWheel - hey this is great for figuring the number of days between dates. I replaced DateUtil with this one. - CARD
DBScan - from the maker of Datebook 5/6 - keeps the calander healthy. - CARD
Dir Assist - I use this a lot with business addresses. It has problems with residental inquiries. It also interfaces very well with Google Maps. - CARD
Distance - not used very often - used to get the distance between map points. - CARD
Documents to Go V9 - use it a lot for Word and Excel files on the Treo - I routinely do Word or Excel files on the go and email them to whoever needs it. A great application. Other apps that do the same basic thing: Quick Office, Word Smith. - RAM (with its various apps on the card)
eReader - CARD
Files - it interfaces with DTG very well to allow one to go looking for that file that does not show up in the DTG file list. - RAM
FileZ - freeware file management application that just works. - CARD
FlightStatus - CARD
Fonts4OS5 - used to move fonts from the card to RAM and back.
FontSmoother - love those smooth fonts - makes the device much easier to look at. - RAM
Fractions - from a fraction to a decimal - handy when it has been a long day. - CARD
Genius! - Internet searches. - CARD
gMail - used on the road to check my Gmail account. - CARD
GMaps - even here on an island it comes in handy. - RAM - due to it interactiving with other applications.
GoogHelper - another Google search tool - this one has a button that returns you to the application. - CARD
Group Messinging - freeware from Palm for sending an SMS message to a group of humans. - CARD
HanDBase - used throughout the day for data gathering. - RAM
Java - used primarily for gMail and a couple of Java games. - RAM
IPhony - when I want a pretty launcher. - CARD
Kinoma - another media player. - RAM
Kwikmaps - interfaces with the contact list and then goes to Google Maps - works really nice. - RAM
Launch-Anywhere - a Windows like launcher from the makers of ZLauncher. Works like Hi-launcher and WinLauncher. - RAM
LightNZip - a zip utility - used before the advent of the Installer application. - CARD unless needed.
LootAtMe - automagical launching of applications on a set schedule. - RAM
mClock - Mobile Clock - great clock/timer/lap application. - RAM
MiniTones - phone tones, you know the kind. - CARD
MunduRadio - Internet noise. - CARD
mRest - soft reset application. - CARD
Mundum IM 3 - chat application from the makers of Mundu Radio. - RAM
Nexus - a dictionary with pretty pictures. - CARD
NorthGaurd UnDo - another in the series of great apps from Northglide. - RAM
On Guard Backup/Restore - this is what I consider as a must have application for backing up data in real time - from Northglide. - RAM
Palm Bio - am I going to have a good day? No one cares. - CARD
PalmInternals - how slow my device is. - CARD
PAR Pro - records noise much like CallRec does. - CARD as I do not use it to record calls.
PayOff Plus - a no longer supported amort program from Toysoft.ca - it works though. - CARD
PDANet - works well on my 650, not so hot on the 700p - used to get the laptop on the Internet in remote areas. - CARD
PocketLingo - dictionary (2) and thesaurus. - CARD
pTunes Deluxe. - RAM
Quick News - the news reader of my choice. RAM
Resco Viewer - the picture viewer of my choice - CARD
Reset Doctor - monitoring of preferences and the DB cache. - RAM
RLock - Resco Locker - locks those bad guy applications in the DB cache. - RAM
Snap - used to take snapshots of the currently displayed screen. - CARD
Sun Compass and Sun Angle - hikes and finding the direction from the sun. - CARD
TakePhone - addon to the default dialer - you just gotta try it. - RAM
TealLock 6 - a security program that works. - RAM
TreoMemo - does what the Memo application should and more - especially the alarms thing. - CARD
Uninstall Manager - another application from Northglide - just get the neatfreak pack. - RAM
VolumeCare - makes the Treo louder - I only use the basic release for phone operation. - RAM
YAHM - used with a hack I am playing with that helps to ensure that files are closed at reset time. - RAM
ZLauncher - third party launcher that does it all. - RAM
Off the above, the apps I consider important: mClock, Datebook 6, DTG V9, HanDBase, ZLauncher, On Guard Backup (and pretty much all of Northglide's applications), Resco Backup, Resco Lock, Butler, TakePhone, 2Day, Google Maps, TealLock, Bluepill - I place a lot of importance on a secure device.
As for games, they are on the device but rarely used.

do most of those apps reside on the card?
-
Stupid me - the majority do live on the card. I updated the post. I normally include links, just time is pressing right now. Ben

Download TCPMp, unzip the files and Quick Install or right-click > Send to > Palm -- tcpmp.prc
- tcpmp_mpeg4_plugin.prc
- tcpmp_mp3_plugin.prc
These are not very big so they can live on the Palm, unlike the actual ripped movies, which you should stick on a SD card - and best to do this thru a card reader/writer than Quick Install. There are 'issues' with that.
