I'm surprised no one has mentioned the following free apps yet.

    1. NVBackup

Better than BackupBuddyVFS. I use it together with BackupMan and RescoBackup, just to be safe. (Yes I have three nightly backup jobs that run back to back. I have never lost any data ever since I started doing this.)

    2. PalmBiblePlus

Best bible app in my opinion. Better than the ones you have to pay for, both in terms of the UI and in terms of bibles available. (ESV is available for free.)

BackupMan does not restore the Java environment or Java files. RescoBackup or NVBackup are the ones to go with, though both are over kill. I use Zondervan's NIV via eReader. I will give PalmBiblePlus a look.

You're right. BackupMan does not restore the Java files, and couple of other files for the ePocrates app as well. Typically, when I need to do a complete restore, I'd restore with BackupMan first, then for the 4-5 files it gave error on, I'd restore with RescoBackup.

The big advantage of BackupMan is that it restores the file that stores the registration codes of the various apps, so you don't need to re-enter the registration codes for your apps after a complete restore, which is a major pain if you have lots of apps. I think NVBackup does that as well, whereas RescoBackup doesn't.

Wrong on the last part, RescoBackup does restore the registration code, as does BackupMan, as does NVBackup. What you may be experiencing is the loss of preferences, the bain of the 650/700p series. Those preferences can often be restored by restoring the "Saved Preferences" file.
