Default My 680's so 1999...

After spending hours checking out Apple's new iPhone, I must emphatically state that I will immediately get rid of my 680 and pick up Apple's entry into the phone market.

I have one question for Palm, in light of the advanced UI of the iPhone: What have you guys been doing for the last 5 years?

These last few days I've used my 680 with angst and disgust. I am now counting the days until my iPhone's release.

The glaring antiquity of the 680's UI is more pronounced after seeing the iPhone demos. What's most annoying about the current Palm UI is how slow it is; press a button and there is microsecond-too-long of a delay. In fact, I often find myself screwing up because I press buttons too fast. Since it doesn't cache input, the 680 gets confused and I have to re-enter my input, albeit slowly. Like talking to a person who has a hard time hearing: you have to sllllllooooooowwwwwwlllllllyyyyyy drag your speech so they understand.

Crimson Treo 680 for sale come June 2007...drop me a line if you're interested.

You are too funny ... but I think you are CORRECT!!!

I said the same thing, I said I want to get a iPhone when it comes out and someone told me it is not a smart phone but it seems to do everything I need it to do, and I bet it even makes phone calls which I cant seem to get my treo 680 to do consistently!!!!

Where did you read about the iPhone on cingular's site ???
I am almost weary of dealing with cingular any more ... they are almost as bad as Palm, how dare they let someone release trash on your network, better yet did anyone test the phone. And when I call with a problem no one knows what to do ...they big thing now is return it and we will send a new one. Sending a new one will not work when all of them react the same way!

Anyhoo I just said I might try to stick it out but I am so iffy about this phone - urgh it is KILLLLLING ME.

well palm developed software and spun it off and did cobalt and nobodies using it and now they have exclusive rigfhts to continue to develop garnt forever and ever which is probably about how long it will take them to get to the 21st century. When the iphone caomes out or whatever it might be renamed after the Cisco lawsuit is over will probaly have things wrong with it that will be whined about and something else will come along to catch our fancy and on and on

If Cisco does indeed own the rights, Apple will eventually figure out a way to get this settled. There is too much invested on Apple's part not to name it the iPhone. According this recent development, Cisco might have lost rights to the iPhone trademark.

Default mind is made up

I am sure we will whine and complain about new phones whose features are messed up ... but I swear the whole not having a signal and not being able to call out takes the cake. I stand by my word that this is some bullsh*t.

Today the phone lost screen recognition on me ... so it does not recognize the stylus ... I guess I should take it all in stride - right?

Ha, it goes back!

no palm should not release the phone with buggy **** still occuring. With regard to the stylus issue do you have a screen protector on it sometimes they interfere with the operation of the touchscreen and stylus you may have some dirt in the gap between the screen and the case there are several threads in the 650 forum about th\is issue Kevin Michaels with palm has posted more than a few times about the issue and solution take a piece of paper and run in under the edge of the case and carefully pull it back out. You may need to replace your screen protector I have had to do this several times. Sometimes I think screen protectors - cant live with them cant live without them!

System Tools or Repair thanks

Well I thought it was just the stylus thing but it seems that the phone doesnt recognize it's own button clicks ... I am going insane over here trying to enter a new contact ... I have to go out tonight and the phone wont even turn on because the 5 way wont move 5 ways and I cant use the stylus (and yes I rebooted numerous times) .... I am debating trying a new treo 680 or just sending it back and calling it a day ....

decisions decisions
