and also new to PDA/Smartphone. i copped a treo 680. i was wondering if custom ringtones can be used and if so how do we do it?

You might want to do a search in the software section for two programs MusicTones and MiniTones. both of these will let you cvonvert mp3s as ringtones and add them to your ringtone list.
