Default New-to-me Treo 680: question about unlocking

    Hey all,

I'm sorry if this is a topic that comes up frequently. I've done a little searching on this forum, but haven't found anything that answers my question.

I'm still under contract to T-Mobile. I recently trashed my RAZR (good riddance) and need a new phone (and I don't have the money to spend and don't want to extend my contract). My sister in law gave me her old Cingular-branded Treo 680.

How do I go about unlocking it so I can use it with my T-Mobile service? Do I need to contact Cingular for a code? Or do I talk to T-Mobile? Or is there some other inexpensive option?

    Thanks for any help!

Go to visionmobile.ca and click remote unlocking on the left hand side and follow through. They will email you a code and instructions for unlocking within 24 hours. It will cost you only $20 canadian. Once unlocked, you can use your tmobile sim card in the new phone. I am from Canada and that is the only one I know. I am sure there are similar sites in the US you can probably do a search on google for one if you don't want to use the canadian one. But the outcome is the same.

Or you could ask your sister-in-law to contact Cingular for the unlock code for free. If she was a customer in good standing with them they should provide it.
