    Default Observations?

So I've had my 680 for 24 hours. Observations:

    1. Nice size.
    2. Wish the stylus was more solid like the 650's.
    3. The 5 way button isn't programable.
    4. The 680 light doesn't blink when it's in service. Just to charge.
    5. Faster web browsing than the 650.
    6. Nicer placement of the SD card.
    7. Not nicer placement for the SIM card. Especially if you swap them often.
    8. Keypad lights flicker too much for my liking.

Thank you for your observations. I'm curious; why would one swap SIM cards often? The only reason I can think of is if there were a lot of different carriers and you had pre-paid cards for each one. You might have to swap as you travelled from carrier zone to carrier zone.
I only swap when I travel to another country (I live in the US and have T-mobile). I go someplace, buy a card from the local "big" carrier and keep it in until I leave, but I usually go only to one city.

Yes and yes. I travel with work and have SIM cards for different countries as well as that I keep a small flip phone here in The States when I don't want to carry "the brick" around.

I've had my Treo now for 2 days and so far my observations are:

    - installation was a snap, the easiest for any palm device yet!
    - Smaller and "sturdier" feel to it
    - Like the slightly larger keys on the keypad
    - screen seems brighter
    - the response of the Treo seems quicker than even my T/X
    - the extra memory will be quite useful
    - the speaker is louder than when I had my Palm 650 and it's louder than the one that was in my Motorola RAZR V3.

    - in regards to the browser, never was a fan of browsing the web through a cell phone, but on the few occasions that I have tried it, it seems fast enough for me. Not as fast as my laptop on the wireless lan at home, but when compared to the wireless capabilities of the Palm T/X the speed was for the most part similar.

I'm thinking that it only blinks when:

    1. Blinking red when It's on and not receiving service.
    2. Solid red when it's charging, solid green when it's charged.

For those who have one, do your keypad lights flicker occasionally when used at a lower setting?

P.S. Might need a spare battery for this one opposed to the 650.

I have not noticed any flickering thus far on the keypad under any conditions.

I do agree though with the indicater light. It's usually solid red when charging and solid green when fully charged and still plugged in. I am kind of glad that it is not flashing green like the 650 did. I have not experienced it flashing red yet, but then I do live in an area where the service coverage is pretty good. The places where I would have a problem with getting a signal are places where I'm not even supposed to have a cell phone in the first place, thereore I have not checked.

    Default Power!

Had the treo 680 for close to a week now, loving the size, weight, mysteriously faster internet, and of course, Bejewled!

What's killing me is the battery power. it's like i can't go a full day on one change with minimal use, when before I could do multiple days on one charge, at least two, with my 650.

Any tips or tricks you're using to conserve battery, other than plugged in at work, plugged in at home, plugged in while in the car?

Nope, batt life blows on this thing. I was the same way with my 650 using it for two days and then charging. There's a hack that shuts off the keypad backlighting which seems to help the cause a bit. I just charge it more often and leave the backlight turned down lower.

The batteries used in the 650 and up series (Windows Mobile included) like to be fed often during the day - seriously, this battery cannot normally be over fed. When you are by a charger, charge it. Short feeding times as little as 5-10 minutes work well with this battery.
