Pair Not: Treo 680 to Motorola H500
Hi all,
I've just purchansed and set up my Treo 680. It's a very nice phone so far. However, I've only been able to pair my H500 to the phone once time in the 4 days that I've owned it. I thought the H500 needed a recharge, so I left it charging overnight. But when I went to pair it up, I get the "Unable to connect to the H500". The search finds the device, but refuses to connect. I've tried all types of combinations but still no paring.
On my old phone Motorola V557 I had infrequent pairing issues, but it was always able to pair up after recharging.
On my old phone I was also able to remove the entry from the "All Known Devices" list. I don't seem to find where this can be done from the Treo 680.
I need this H500 for handsfree driving.
Any help will be appreciated.

Martha,
I never did receive any responses except yours. However, I think I've since found a way around this problem and I'm able to sync everytime.
I started thinking about the way a computer boots up. While it's booting up you can't do much until it is completely booted up. So I applied that thought to the H500. What I found is that when I start the H500, I hold the button until the blue light is up and then hold the button for a few more seconds (2-3). What I think happens is that although the power light is on the H500 is not always up all the way. By holding it a little longer it seems to bring the H500 to a full startup. Now hen I synchronize the H500, it seems to always be ready.
Give it a try. I'd be curious if it's really that simple.

I'm having trouble getting the Motorola T305 connected. I tried your suggestion and it did not work for me. Any other suggestions? Motorola was no help at all. Seems like they would have better trouble shooting for Treo users since there are so many of us.

I'm sorry, but I don't have any other ideas. Maybe someone can step in with more information.

Thank you so much for your help

Rgrchico, I tried what you suggested, but I have a Treo 755p and a motorola H700 Mine is suppost to turn purple when it is in pairing mode. I tried holding it down a little longer and trying to make sure I thought it was "up" before I tried to pair it. Mixed results, mostly no good. Then I thought well, how about turning it all off, then charging all the pieces completely and then trying it again. That worked for me. Since then I have had to repair once or twice, but basically it works and just needs to get turned on and I'm good to go. I don't really have a good engineering concept of why this works or what was the real issue before, but I don't care, because it is working and that's all I want. Thank you so much for your help. Many years ago I use to be a programmer/analyst but now so much of this stuff doesn't run on code, its voodoo driven. Wishing you continued sucess with your Treo. ~Martha

I have the 500 and the 700 and the 700 is very picky. Sometimes it pairs and works properly, other times it does not. The 500 has never failed to operate properly. Also, the battery life on the 700 is not at all good.

Martha,
I'm glad you're up and running. I found that I'm also keeping the devices charged as well. I stopped by a local wireless store and asked them about the pairing problem. They didn't seem surprised when I told them what the problem was. Their response was "are you also having trouble being heard on your calls or you sound like you are in a cave?". They said that certain phones work better with the Motorola Bluetooth then others. Unfortunately, I didn't have time to talk him further but it makes you wonder if another Bluetooth device works better with the Treo. I guess I need to do some digging to find out what works best and what doesn't work.

It really is a headset issue. Last night I again paired the H700 to my Sprint Treo 700p and of course, it paired. When I tried to use it, this time it worked. The H500 has never had this problem.
