repairing water-damaged treo 680
Hello, I need advice on how to repair my phone. I dropped it in water in October. The screen stoppped working after a few hours and I just assumed it was a gone-er. Well just a few minutes ago I decided to see if it still worked, just for fun. At first there was nothing, then I held it over a heater for a bit and tried turning it on, and the red light in the top left corner came on, but nothing else. That is as far as it will get. So obviously there is something going on in there that still works. PLEASE tell me it can be repaired?! This is my favorite phone, millions of times better than my current Samsung Propel. Any suggestions or advice are GREATLY appreciated.

Update! Still need help
Update: After plugging it into the charger it turned on and is fully functional from what I can tell, except the screen is dark; you can still read and see it but its not backlit. Is it safe to assume that I just need a new screen? I've tried taking it to cell phone repair places but since its water damage they either don't even want to look at it or I have to pay a fee just for them to check it out. If I know whats wrong with it and am confident its repairable then I could justify paying the fee to have it fixed. If someone could help me out I would REALLY appreciate it.

You can try putting it in a bag of rice for a few days. That sometimes works on cellphones that have been in water.

I had dropped a treo 650 in the water. I immediately used one of those cleaners that you clean the keyboard with. I got this from Costco. The name of the product is Dust-Off. It is a compressed liquid gas.

You're saying you dropped it in OCTOBER ???? It's a miracle it still does anything and it's not a block of corrosion. Email Chris Short at itsnothe@palmdr.com . He does a good job and he's not expensive. He repaired my 680 for only $60 when Palm said $199 and I got it back from the day I sent it in a little over a week later.
