    Default Replacement 650, or 680? The dilemma

    Greetings all (I posted this in another forum, so for those of you who've seen it, my apologies, but I'm desperate) -

    My beloved unlocked 650 has recently given out after one-too-many drops, and I'm left with a choice:

    * Replace with an unlocked 650 for approximately $(US) 200-250, or
    * Buy an unlocked 680, for $399

    I won't say the money ISN'T a factor, because it is, but I am incredibly happy with my 650 (other than it being broken!), and wonder if the $150-200 price upgrade is worth it for the 680's form factor, slightly faster email, etc.

    Any thoughts/ideas/suggestions would be most appreciated.

    Regards,

    Gran

    Well, my 650 is functioning just fine and I have no plans to replace it . . . If I were though, I am pretty confident I would go with the 680 unlocked! A little more memory, a much nicer form factor, P-tunes installed . . . But thats me . .

    some places on line are offering the 680 from cingular new plan account for 2 years free. There may be catch in the fine print somewhere.

    The catch is you have to pay the contrct cancellation fee which is $200 (possibly less...not quite sure) so you can reactivate it when you upgrade. In other words, should you decide you want the 680, its actually cheaper to buy the unlocked version from Palm...plus you get to choose between four cool colors! On a serious note, the Treo 680 (from what I hear) is not only faster for emails, but it has the new phone app, which makes it worth it to me in itself (the new form factor helps too).
