Default Reset Issues

I am a long-time Palm user; have enjoyed my Treo 680 for about 6 months. No problems except two weeks ago, I had to have AT&T replace my SIM card (dumped a call in the middle of the call and gave a SIM card memory error).

In the last week or so, I have been having frequent crashes complicated by other issues, such as when it comes back after resets, opening Calendar or the Address Book causes it to crash again. Restoring my backup worked OK for a while, then I realized that for some reason many programs came back as unregistered (!) and lost my preferences overall. I painstakingly did a hard reset, loaded a different backup program, and things were fine briefly. Same issues again. Again, loaded only a few programs at a time, all of which I have used for months on end without problems, and eventually, before the day is out, having the same problem.

Never mind all the hours lost in trying to get this resolved ... I can't live like this, and would welcome any suggestions to fix this. Thanks in advance for any help!

Informative Welcome to the World of Palm

I have dealt with this on too many of their devices to mention. Each/every 650 I had in my first 9 months of becoming a "smartphone" user was replaced. Each time they would offer a replacement it was to be a refurb and they would try to charge me the deductibles. Why after spending so much money would the company (be it Sprint or Palm direct) NOT give me a NEW device under the manufacturer's warranty and refuse to back up their products?! Why should I take a hit on my TRP/insurance and have to pay a deductible? Even though those were good questions according to the rep's of BOTH firms, they were limited only to the "allowed responses."

After the first 9 months of hell and four NEW 650's later (all at no charge), I have been happy for 1.25 years with few issues. As far as my 700P, we'll find out soon. As far as the 755, it's just a scary thought and though I really want one..... I'll await to hear from others first.

Should you need assistance in dealing with your service provider when/if a replacement is needed send me a PM. They should NOT charge you anything and NOT send you a refurb!

Good luck - J

NOTE: I am not affiliated with any manufacturer or service provider. Unfortunately for Sprint/Palm, I'm just an experienced anal retentive PITA who stands up for himself and will take the extra time to "stick it to the man" should he try and stick it to me.
