I just received my new 4gb sd for my treo 680. I have a built in card reader on my laptop and i am trying to transfer what was on my 1gb to the new 4gb card. Now when i try to copy whats on the 1gb to my desktop or a folder on my desktop i keep getting this error
Cannot copy file: cannot read from the source file or disk.
so now i am stuck without a clue ,and this 4gb card wrthless if i cant transfer the info from the 1gb
Have you tried just to open the files to see if they are on the card (my computer)?
If your treo can read your card but your computer won't I would try a card reader (mentioned in above post). If your treo sees info on the card then your card is OK it must be your connection to the computer. Also see above post on read only tab on card.

Thank you for such a quick replt
i tried to open the files and yes they are on the card.My treo reads the card fine. I checked the tap and its in the right spot. (Connection to the computer???)
What I meant with my computer is when I plug in a drive or card reader into the computer I go to my computer and look for the drive or reader there. Once you find the reader open it to display files and click on the files to open or play them. If you can do that but not copy the files they are protected by the card.
I bet you just need a card reader because of the size of your card, unless you have moved files from the card before by this connection. If it has worked before and you have checked the card tab for read only I have no ideas unless to try a different reader.

When I first got my 650, I bought a 512meg card for it. It worked perfect in my laptop's card reader! I upgraded to a 2 gig card. My laptop wouldn't read it! My desktop wouldn't read it, nor would my printer's SD card slot . . But it worked perfect in my Treo. Took the card to Circuit City where I bought it and asked a guy there if I could plug it into a couple of their new computers. Those computers read that card just fine. Walked out with a Card reader! Many card readers built in to computers have a limit on how much they can see. Even computers just a couple of years old will only see 1 gig or less. In my case, new drivers/software were never offered to correct it. Luckily USB card readers don't suffer from that limitation . . . .

I actually had the same thing happen to me yesterday. I got a new 4gb card, and tried to copy my files to it from my old 1gb card, but my Sandisk USB external card reader won't recognize the 4gb card. My Treo does though.
