Searching CONTACTS
I am somewhat frustrated in the search function on this Treo/Palm as well as the previous Windows Mobile 6 OS. I hope I am not missing some kind of setup or something.
Here is the problem that I see with the treo palm 680. It seems that the search capability of the names in the phone directory is limited by last name and only starting with the First position (character) in the last name. Like I said, I hope I am missing something. It seems to me that if I can't remember the persons name, but I do however remember the company they work for, it wont search for anything but the last name. Not the company, the city, the phone number or anything else. Why cant it search the entire record. Why bother putting all the other STUFF in the contact record like street name and address etc.
Is there a simple answer here?

You can do a search which will look at all areas of your contacts simply by hitting the little black "Option" buttonand the Search button (Or the Caps button). I haven't found anything I couldn't track down in my contacts with that. It's just not very intuitive where they put it. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the quick reply. I forgot to mention that the phone I have is one of the PALM OS phones (680). I did go to the site and look and it seems that the solution is geared toward the Windows Mobile arena. I also left a query for their support team as to whether they have a version for the Palm OS and not windows.
Thanks and Happy New Year

Mines a Palm 680, too. I've looked at a lot of contact managers but none of them let you dial as simply as the Palm Contacts. I guess you could do double duty with an Address Program like AddressPro by ZingWare which allows all kinds of searches and configurations. I used to use it on all my Palm handhelds but they haven't updated it in awhile, so you can't use it to dial once you find the contact.
Anyway, hope I was some help.

Thank you guys. I just bought a Treo 680, I love it but I was missing the find app which was very helpful in my old palm devices. I guess I wasn't that smart ... ups!!!. By tapping the options button and the caps one the finding app just magically appeared. I'll not be concerning anymore about "ghosts" in my very extended contact list.
