| Service light not working The blinking green service light on my crimson 680 is not working. It only works when it's charging, and it's solid red.
My 600's green blinking worked fine, so I know it's not the network. That one was also an unlocked GSM phone.
I show full bars on the Cingular network, but no blinking green light.
My only theory is that the battery life on these 680's--compared to my 600--is way shorter; disabling the green light conserves what little standby power the new battery has. |

| The light on the Treo 680 does not blink like it did on previous models. When the Treo is recharging it will be red and when it is fully charged it will change to green. Since the Treo 680 has a smaller battery, having the flashing green light was just an energy drain. Besides the number of bars on your screen will also let you you are in a service area.

| Yea, but... It's an interface downgrade having to now physically have the phone in hand to tell whether you have a signal or not. How going from being able to tell your phone is on and obtaining a signal from a distance to now having to hold it in your hand, turn it on and check how many bars you have is, by any standard definition of usability, a downgrade. |

| Personally I don't think it's a downgrade. I always hated the flashing light as it is. Depending on how the phone was situated in my pocket, the light could shine through the material of either the shirt pocket or pants I was wearing. I am glad yjeu didn't eliminate the light altogether, I do like to know when the phone is fully charged. On my last cell phone I had to open it up and look at the screen and it would say fully charged or charging. Now all I have to do is see a green light. Red is still charging, and green is good to go.

| Option Then it sounds like the best decision would be to make the service light an option. Some of the Motorola phones have that option. |

| Come on guys. It is not that complicated.
No Light: Phone connected
Blinking red light: Phone not connected.
Now, was that so hard? |
