    Informative Some observations 650-680

So I finnaly got my 680 for xmas this morning- after two weeks of little reception on my now atenna-less 650. Anyway here are just a few points of interests for people upgrading from the 650 like myself.

    1) Obviously the appearence is much sleeker-its quite sexy. i have the cingular graphite one and I just can't take my eyes off of it.

    2) They Key quard now dispalys the date and time, a small but practical addtion.

    3) The colors on the screen appear more intense, this is a very pleasing improvement.

    4) The keys on the keypad are a more square shape and have a different feel to them, something that is going to take some getting used to.

    5) They navigation buttons are much different, something that is going to take a while to get used to. For starters the menu button has been moved next to the alt button where there used to be a second shift button. Also the send/end buttons are in the place that used to be occupied by the home/menu buttons. The home button has been moved to the previous location of the end button on the opposite side of the phone and the phone app button and send button are now seperate keys. All of this is making moving about the phone quite difficult but it is just a matter of time before one gets used to the new layout.

Thats all for now as ive only had it for 5 hours. Its denfinately a good upgrad from an antenna-less 650 but im not sure if i would as satisfied if my 650 had been in better condition.

Yes You Can, but you should make sure that all of your programs will work with the 680, for some odd reason not all do

That was the best part of the upgrade for me. When I went to install the CD, it recognized that I had a 680 and asked if I wanted to use my same username. I had already renamed my back up folder and quickly went and named it back to backup. Hit the "enter" key and everything transfered perfectly except Ringo, zLauncher, and ptunes.
    • The ptunes problem was that the 680 came with ptunes and it wouldn't recognize my Ptunes deluxe. I ended up having to uninstall ptunes and then install my deluxe version. Mine is an older version and that is why. Had I had the latest, it shouldn't have been a problem.
    • There was one database file on Ringo Pro that the 680 couldn't find. All I did to fix it was to install the whole thing once more. All my mp-3's and their settings were there and good to go.
    • zLauncher seemed to know that my username and my device were not what I registered with. The problem was, the key that I had was in an email on a laptop that got stollen. I fired off an email to zztechs, and about 24 hours later, launcher was again officially on the device. This one took a while though. I ended up uninstalling the one that was on there, and started fresh . . I bet I spent the better part of a day tweaking it all the settings back the way I had them . . .
