Default Stereo sound (not Bluetooth!) from a 680?

Hey folks. I just spent some time searching through this board, back through a year's worth of threads and more looking for some help with this issue and didn't see anything that addressed it specifically (or even partially). If I'm asking one of those questions everyone is tired of answering, my apologies, honestly -- I'm not trying to be obnoxious, I promise.

I have a Treo 680. I have a Philips stereo headset -- wires, not Blueooth. I have the stereo adapter. I have the latest version of PocketTunes, and megabytes of music on an 2GB expansion card.

What I don't have is stereo sound. The sound only comes through the right earpiece.

I've eliminated the problem being faulty headphones by checking it against other equipment in the house. I've eliminated the problem being the adapter. So somehow, I need to know how to get stereo sound out of this set up.

Does the headset have to be Treo-brand? Is there a work around? Help!!

*sigh* No answers, really? Can someone at least tell me if this is a stupid question, or one that's been thoroughly done to death or if it's just that no one knows?

    Pretty please?

Need Help And the answer is!

Because this thread shows up #2 on Google when you search for "treo 680 problem stereo sound" as well as the fact that there are no answers or advice forthcoming from the Treo community, I thought I'd better post what I'd found for those who are looking for the same answers I was.

In short, the adapter you buy MUST be a "3 conductor" unit, NOT a "4 conductor" which is what is sold at Radio Shack. The 3 conductor unit is sold through an outfit called Smartphone Experts. There is no other solution available for a Treo 680 so don't waste your money at Radio Shack or anyplace else.

Hope this helps others who've also been tearing their hair out over this.

    HI,

Sorry no one replyed to you sooner! Glad you got this issue resolved!

I have a Treo 755p, and I ran into the same problem with trying to find an adapter for my Sony (stereo) headset that worked in stereo, not just the right ear. I have 3 gigs worth of music on my SD card and I use pTunes avidly to listen to music.

Okay, here's the fix, as you previously mentioned! I also suggest purchasing the SPE Stereo Adapter and this should allow you to use any stereo headset. I use mine to pipe the music from my phone into my car via the tape-deck adapter.

Here's a link to purchase the adapter...
