also what is the user memory on the device on the palm site it s says 64MB non-volatire memory. So I take it that the must a user can use is 32mb. But a lot of sites and people are saying it has 64MB user memory.
So I'm just a little confused on how much memory it has. Cause I look at the 700p and it says 128mb of non-volatire memory and the most we can use is 64mb.
So I'm confused? What is the memory on the 680?

I want a Treo 680 so badly, I've been trying to get a good deal on a Treo 650 unlocked for the past weeks but have been unsuccessful, so if 680 comes out soon I'd rather buy that. I've been researching unsuccessfully for an estimated release date for 680.
Does anyone have any idea as to how long before it starts being sold for Cingular or unlocked? ex. months, weeks, 2007? Thanks in advance for any input!

Within the next month. The unlocked will be released at the same time the carrier releases. Palm could not annonce the unlocked price, as the media would have reported the device price being higher than it actually will be once subsidized by a wireless carrier.

One of the perks of unlocked will be the choice of colors. I'm disappointed that "Insert name of wireless carrier" has not chosen to take on at least one color. Surely some market research could have picked one popular color that wouldn't be left on shelves. For my money, the white Treo is the one.

I'm undecided between white and orange... or arctic and copper...

Silly question...what does 'unlocked' mean?

Silly question...what does 'unlocked' mean? It means you can use it on any GSM based network, ie. T-Mobile, Cingular or anywhere int the world where they support GSM technology and use a SIM card. If you buy the phone from Cingular or another wireless provider, it's "locked" to the network meaning it can only be used on Cingular, etc.
