    Default Treo 680 Battery Fix

I was very skeptical of this, but it and the camera patch posted in this thread really seems to have made a big difference in my Battery life! I have only lost 15% battery life in almost 4 hours with minimal use. Before, I was losing 10-12% per hour not even using it!

Disable any background app before starting. This is critical! Chatter, Treoalarm, and quicknews were the three I had to turn off. SET them to off, because you will be resetting the device a couple of times in this process.

Please follow the steps below to solve the issue:

    1. Connect your Treo to a wall charger.

    2. Remove the battery from the Treo and wait for at least one minute.

    3. Remove the SIM card from the device and wait for another minute.

    4. Put the battery back into the device (without the SIM card) then let your Treo charge for at least 4 to 6 hours and for this duration:
      • Do NOT press any key after reinserting the battery.
      • Do NOT switch your TREO On or Off either, it will do so automatically after a short time.
      • Do NOT enter the SIM card PIN if prompted to do so, just wait!
After this procedure, which can be performed and repeated any time, you will now dispose of the full charging capacity and the display of the remaining battery power will work correctly.”

The camera patch along with the battery meter reset seems to have solved my battery issues. I did another test last night. I pulled the Treo from the Charger at 3:00PM with 100% showing. At 2:10 this morning I put it back on the charger. Thats 11 hours with very heavy phone use, (19 calls total) IMAP constantly connected, and quicknews retrieving the latest updates during this time. When I went to plug it up, I had 58% of the battery left!

    Not bad at all!

I haven't tried this battery reset yet. Do you think it's better to wait until the battery is empty to do it ?

Well, mine wasn't drained when I did it. From what I can find out, when the 680 is first plugged into a charger, if you "Play" with it while charging, it seems to affect the calibration of the battery readings. These steps are to re-calibrate it so that it should read more accurately.

I noticed last weekend that my battery was showing in the red when I made a call. But two hours later, I went to put it on the charger and noticed that it was still on, and functioning, and the battery level hadn't changed . . If I were indeed losing 10-12% per hour like I have been seeing, then my phone should have been dead before those two hours were up . . . Your camera patch link and this procedure have addressed my battery woes!

Again, thanks so much for sharing here!

My pleasure  And thank you for the quick answer !
I'll wait until tomorrow evening to do this battery reset.
Do you think it has to be done regularly ? Or is one time enough ?

I have wondered the same thing. One question that I had from the Treonauts article was the author stated that you could repeat it again at any time . . . . I don't know if that meant that I would need to, or it wouldn't hurt to . . . If I do see a need in the coming days/weeks I will try to document here in this thread
