Exclamation Treo 680 camera patch addresses battery issues

I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this, if not, I apologize.

Palm has quietly released a patch that addresses an issue about the camera draining the Treo's battery, even when it's in standby mode.

The patch is available on the european Palm Knowledge Base (solution number : 10946).

MarieC, thanks for posting. I have used my 680 camera very little, but am hoping this will improve my battery life. At this point, I will take "slightly"

Tonight I have barely "lost" 3%, with phone ON and a nightly backup running... let's see how it performs on the long run.

I lost 33% from 12:30 am to 6:00 am, nothing was done, missed on call and 2 reminders, never talked on the phone or touched a button...
I think it is going back until the patches and fixes are more widespread...haven't heard of these same issues from the 750

Huge improvement for me! At day's end I would be down to 65% or so, light use (3 or 4 text messages, check email 2 or 3 times, send one or two emails, and talk maybe 4 or 5 minutes) Today I was only down to 83% at the end of a typical day. And I had left bluetooth on for several hours, unconnected.

I am very happy too. This is the first time my Treo has been without charge for more than 24 hours. I charged it the last time it was Friday morning. It's now Saturday midnight here (actually Sunday early morning) and my Treo still shows proudly over 60% battery. For my use of mobile communications this is just perfect.

Thank you too, for the kudos. I must say you're the only Treo site webmaster who has acknowledged your information source. Not that we care much about that, but it's nice !

Keep up the good work !

Does this Camera Patch also add a new undocumented feature: Soft reset everyday at noon!

After this patch was applied, my 680 resets itself at noon everyday. It lights up at noon, then proceeds to reset itself. Go figure.

I would seriously doubt its the patch that is causing the reset at noon. I know that with my 650, if I had a reset issue, it was usually something such as Chatteremail and TreoAlarm accessing the data connection at the same time. Do you have any apps set to do anything at all at around noon?
