Treo 680 Cingular BlackBerry Connect DataPlan
Hello,
I have been sent to get the blackberry connect software working on the treo 680. I have cingular service with the unlimited data plan. I have installed the software and have gotten my lotus calendar to sync, but can not get the phone to connect to the service adn get emails. Anyone have this situataion?
I have heard you need the blackberry data plan, but I have called Cingular and they say that the PDA Unlimited data plan will work too.
Any help or ideas would help greatly.
Thanks,
Dave

I'm afraid you were misled by the Cingular rep. There seems to be a lot of confusion on this, but one thing is constant: you need a "Blackberry Data Plan" to use any Blackberry services. No other data plans will do. Folks are constantly trying to get their Blackberry to work with their old tzones or other pda data plans and it never works. Seems the Blackberry Data Plans link up with RIM's servers to authenticate your identity as a Blackberry user.

Hey thanks for the reply..
If I get an unlimited blackberry plan will I be able to get out to the internet using blazer still then?
If you know that would be awesome.
Thanks again,
Dave

I had the same problem. Go back to the PDA plan.

Another prerequisite for using BBC with your Cingular Treo is to be on Blackberry Enterprise Server, not the BIS most individual users have. Gotta have that corporate server connection or it's no BBC for you!

Interesting. Yes My company does have a Blackberry enterprise server.
So with the blackberry service are you saying I am not able to get out to the internet at all? But will be able to get my email?
Just want to be clear.

Without a Blackberry Data Plan, no email, no internet. You can so SMS messages and use the phone, but that's about all.
