TREO 680: Combined English/Chinese text messages
Hello, just threw out my second faulty TX and bought a Hong Kong model Treo 680 here in Beijing. The shop owner set it up to be driven using English menus, but I would like to be able to easily send text messages that have both English and Chinese characters in them. I don't understand all the CJKOS preferences but it is installed. Right now, I can write Chinese characters easily enough using Pinyin input but when I try to write English letters, it converts them to Chinese characters. Can someone tell this Treo noob how switching between the two languages within a single text message is achieved? It can't be too difficult, surely.

I realize that you asked this question a long time ago, but maybe this will help someone else in the future. I assume that you are using cjkos for your Chinese, at least that is what my Treo 680 I bought in China came loaded with. To switch between Pinyin and English you need to push and hold the menu key (the key in the bottom right corner of the keyboard). This will switch between the two input methods. In addition, I don't know if this has happened to anyone else, but sometimes I am unable to switch to Pinyin after a soft restart. It took some fiddling around, but I found that if you go into preferences and enter keyboard and simply uncheck then recheck everything it fixes the glitch.
