Treo 680 reports list it as GSM -- this mean no love for CDMA users?
As the title says, the press releases and reports I've read from various sources (including PalmOne) state that the 680 is a GSM phone, with no indication that it supports CDMA.
So, I'm assuming it doesn't?
Does this mean that Sprint and Verizon, for example as CDMA carriers, will never see the 680?
I don't know if I should interpret this in this way, because if it's true, I'm waiting for a 680 that I'll never see and I should be looking for a Treo 650 right now..

The 680 is a GSM phone and will not work on the CDMA Sprint/Verizon network. Nothing in any of the stories indicates it will be brought out as a CDMA device.
So, either purchase a 650 or if you want a device with more memory and stability then look at the 700p. There are always Windoz devices.

Well us GSMers have been asking the same questions about 700P's and double U's!
My guess however is that Palm's vision has been to offer a Sub-$300 device to the masses for a long time. I am guessing that if V/Sprint think they can get new customers with the device, you might see it with a CDMA radio in it sometime late next year. At least, lets all keep our fingers crossed that they do! Lets face it, Palm has some pretty stiff competition from HTC and WM05, who churn out a new phone about once a month that sits right around the $300 mark!
Of course, I am also predicting a lot of options this time next year with units running the new Palm OS. I have yet to read anything specific to Motorola other than, at a Palm news conference show and tell, they had the new OS running on a Moto phone . . . . . . . . I am looking for a few major hardware players to jump into the Palm OS game soon . . .
