Treo 680 unlock frustration...have code in hand

If this is not just frustrating!!! I am sitting here with an awsome Treo 680 branded by Cingular but have an unlock code for it. I bought it on ebay and the guy told me he unlocked it. It won't except my sim card. I called cingular and they said my sim card numbers are correct. So they don't know what the problem is. I even have the email from cingular with the unlock code and instructions. I was so excited to get it today and now this...400.00 down the drain...anyone know how to fix this problem? I dont know if it would work or not but try a hard reset and then do the unlock routine again. It might work it might not. Or maybe you have bad sim card,

SIM Unlock Procedure

- Put in the SIM you want to use on the 680
(NOTE*** It has to be a non Cingular SIM card if you are trying to unlock your Cingular 680. It won't work if you use a Cingular SIM card in the device to unlock the phone)
- Turn on "wireless mode" on the smartphone by holding down the RED POWER button.
- Clear the "SIM not allowed" dialog by clicking OK
- Go to the DialPad (PhoneApp)
- Enter the code: *#*#<unlock code># and then press the GREEN button to initiate <DIAL>

That should work.

Give us a shout at support@650unlock.com. We offer free diagnostics on Cingular unlock codes to make sure that they gave you the right one as a service to the EverythingTreo community.

It seems that about 1 in 100 unlock codes that Cingular gives out are incorrect and won't unlock a phone (and they won't help you at all!).

I was just as frustrated as the lady who had it in hand and never responded...It worked and saved me from going out and buying a new phone.

AT&T just sent the following subsidy unlock instructions to me (after I asked them nicely):

INSTRUCTIONS: Treo - General

1. Insert Cingular SIM into device
2. Power on the device - ensure phone is in wireless mode
3. Press the green Phone button
4. Enter * # * # unlock code #
5. Press Dial - the device is now unlocked

I followed these instructions and the phone said it was unlocked, but my Treo 680 would not accept my United Mobile SIM code. Any ideas? Should I have put the United Mobile SIM in while I unlocked the phone?

I also have a treo from cingular that will not unlock. at&t sent me this

step 1 power on with your ( cellular one ) sim
step 2 enter*#*#90865028#
step 3 press dial
done


It did not work. Been on the phone with at&t going on 5 hours now. Can anyone help me?
