Treo 680 Won't Stop Hot Syncing
My previously perfect year-old Treo 680 keeps spontaneously trying to hot sync--over and over again. This occurs when I am not trying to do a hot sync and the Treo is not attached to a cable. I tried about 25 hard resets but it kept doing this even when my palm was emptied of all my desktop data. I kept clicking "OK" every time the screen displayed the words "the connection...could not be established", then immediately pressed on the phone screen command. The pone screen would be visible for a few seconds, then would revert to the "connecting with the desktop" screen and the whole process would start again. After doing this countless times, I was finally able to get the phone screen to remain visible without the hot sync screen coming back and the treo started working fine again.
But as soon as I completed a hot sync to get all my data back, the problem started again--immediately after I removed the hot sync cable from the Treo. Oddly, if I keep the palm connected by cable to the USB port, the Treo sometimes (not always) will work normally (ie, it stops hot syncing on its own.) If I disconnect the cable from the USB port and the Treo, or keep it plugged into the Treo but not the USB port, it starts doing the continuous hot syncing again. Can anyone out there help me? I'm pretty desperate to get this solved ASAP.

Also, does this happen after a hard reset has been executed and the phone left to play by itself for a while? Performing a hot sync and restoring the device means reinstalling everything that was wrong with the device.

Some suggestions
I'm not an expert but I have some thoughts (suggestions).
I tried a calendar sharing app that would do a second HotSync immediately after the first one to transfer updates from the web site. So it's possible for an app to force another HotSync.
I'd suggestion removing any apps from your device that you've added recently and HotSync-ing. You might also have to remove them from the BackUp directory on your desktop.
You can either work your way down (remove apps one at a time) to find the issue or work your way up (start with the default apps only and then add one app at a time). Hopefully, you'll get to a point where you have the apps that you need and the HotSync-ing loop has stopped.
