Treo always displays 1 voicemail

Hey guys,

New Treo user here, bought my first 680 and so far I'm loving it. Coming from being a hard-core BB user, I'm taking quite the heat from most of my buddies....but I wanted to try something new so here I am.

Just a question here from a n00b's view as I'm confused as to what's going on. In the main display when I scroll over to the "star" and access the menu, the top function allows me to access my voice mail by simply touching the screen.

However,

Ever since I've received this unit, it continues to display a "1" at the end of the field, making me believe I have 1 voice mail to retrieve. I am familiar with the way Rogers works whereby the user receives a Text message each time a new voice mail is available, but I have no voice mails in my inbox so this one's got me stumped.

Is this normal for Treo's, or should I do something to remove it? I've tried removing the battery a few times, but it's still there.

Other than this, so far I'm lovin' my new 680!!

I have always taken this to mean just press and hold 1 to call your voicemail. I never really thought it about it more than that. Anyone else have any thoughts?

voicemail is assigned speed dial calling slot number 1 same as on the treo 650 for cingular dont know about other carriers phones.

Yes, the 1 is in reference to the hot key, not the number of v/m's. It took me a while to figure that one out as well.

Yep they're correct. I used to think the same thing. You can verify this by going to the phone tab and looking at the line with the time on it. If you had a voicemail it would be listed here also.
