Treo going on and off on it's own

My battery went dead during a phone call today, first time. It had been on the charger all night with only moderate usage today. I remembered that I'd seen the screen light up several times today for no apparent reason. No call, alarm, etc. So I put it here on my desk next to me while I've been working on my computer, and it "wakes up" every few minutes, then shuts down a few seconds later. I'm thinking that if it's been doing that all day, that could drain the battery. I've seen a lot of reviews/comments about the poor battery life, but it's never bothered me before, I don't mind charging it every nite and it's always, until not, even with heavy use, for me, made it through the day with poser to spare. I have installed a lot of software on it this last couple of weeks, so one of those could be the culprit, I guess. But what would make it do this all by itself with no indication why?
Any one know why it's coming on all by itself every few minutes? Known bug? Fix?
