That is a little high . . . I converted that to US dollars, and its $512.1073
According to some net reports, you can buy unlocked, without contract from Cingular for $424.00 I am betting that Palm's site will be the same price, and you will have your choice of colors there. If it were me, I would wait to see how much you can get it direct from Palm. It should be available about the same time it appears at Cingular.

for those of us who live in the real world (and therefore have to pay the tax) VAT means another 17% (that's another £46!)

unfortunately we do pay thru' the nose over here.

can someone clarify then, if i was to buy an unlocked 680 from the states or canada, would it run okay in the uk?

(next i'll be looking for offers!!)

I think an unlocked one from the US would work just fine over here - been thinking the same thing to use with orange....

But if you buy one from the states - you'll likely get hit with vat, and import duty plus a handling fee from the carrier....

Amazon.co.uk is now listing it at £276.38

My current pda dell x50v has a cracked screen and needs replacing - if it this doesn't launch soon I'll have to look elsewhere.

only if you import direct...if we were to persuade a board member to buy and then ship directly we might avoid that eh?

the only hesitation i have is that my 650 is actually working fine and would have to persuade my wife of the reasoning in upgrading.

thanks for tip on amazon tho

Just had a look and dabs have it for pre order as well now.

I can reclaim the vat so the importing route is less attractive to me unless the price is very close to $ = £ .

As expansys were selling the 650 for £450 until last week I don't think they'll be very price competitive on the 680.

Bought mine a week or so back from Palm at £299 incl VAT and delivery free.
Could have gotten it a bit cheaper from amazon.co.uk but they don't get their stocks in till 2007
