Unlocking 680 - Treo Forums

Bought a 680 with cingy plan, had to move to Bangladesh. Can anyone help me with unlocking the phone? My 650 (which I gave to my wife) is working fine but that was GSM Unlocked.

You will need to call Cingular's CS department and tell them your situation. They will send you an unlock code with instructions. I haven't tested this myself, but this is what I understand the procedure to be. I have never heard them refuse anyone as long as you have owned the phone for more than 90 days . . .

Your only other choice is to pay an unlocking service like gsmphonesource.com. I don't know what they get for that, probably about $50.

You could check on ebay and probably find it cheaper I paid 15.00 for unlock on ebay for my 650 it took about 20 mins to get it done because I fogot to type in a symbol if you have problems the people on the other side can walk you through. Good luck

you need to wait 3 month from cingular to get approved. u've better off getting a unlock code from ebay or online. its like $25-$29/

Just call Cingular and explain. I told them I travel abroad for extended periods and want freedom to buy a local SIM card with a local phone number and use in my Treo 680. They readily agreed to send me an email with the unlock code. Turns out the email did not arrive so had to call them back and they read me the code and gave me the instructions about how to unlock phone.

They had done the same thing for my Treo 650 earlier.

Just read the post from fondoo, and he is dead wrong. Cingular does not take three months! Will provide unlock code in 5 business days.
