Vista problems with software installs
Every time I launch Palm Desktop or Palm Quick Install, I get a message that the program has unexpectedly quit.
This only happens in Windows Vista, not in Windows XP.
Has anyone else had the same problem? Have any of you found a workaround?
I haven't seen any mention of this on Palm's support site

I get the exact same problem, can't even apply the battery patch to mine.
Palm are saying that new Vista compatible software will be out in the summer.
I'm going to stick the camera patch on an SD card and install from that.

There is Vista Installer - look at the bottom of the page: http://btsolved.com/.
I use Bluetooth for syncing, installing, et cetera. An excellent application that works well with it is PilotInstall - http://www.freewarepalm.com/utilitie...tinstall.shtml.

I've been installing files via SD card or uploading them to a web site and installing them via the browser.

This is a very strange bug since Palm has had the Vista dev kit for quite some time...

As noted above, the problem with Palm's Quick Install and Vista can be dealt with as noted above with 3rd Party software or via simply taking the file to install > right click > Send to... > Palm Powered Device (not Quick Install) - but the bigger problem would seem to be for the original poster is that they can't access Palm Desktop. I'm running Vista and I never had this problem, so no real suggestion there, I'm afraid.
The only possibility I came up with is to do a full uninstall, and then, rather than simply install from the autorun CD, open the disk, select the setup file > right click > Properties > Compatibilities > XP (and then Run as Administrator) and see if that works....
