Why on earth would you not buy the 680?

Moderator, can you please delete my first post.

I just saw in another thread that the only major differences between the 680 and 700p are the memory (128 versus 64) and the camera.

Now, after seeing the differences, I have a question pertaining to the memory of the two devices. Is the memory difference that big of a deal? Because if it's not the big of an issue, then why on earth would you buy the 700p over the 680? It's 100 bucks more expensive.....

The 680 has half the memory, half the camera, is a little bit lighter, and uses EDGE/GSM vs CDMA.
That said, I'd have gotten a 700p if they'd come out with Cingular, but will be perfectly happy with the 680. I have a very nice digital camera if I need good pics - the phone camera will just be used for work or emergencies or just goofing off, anyway.
Anything will be better than my POS Nokia with an outdated antenna (My family has 4 of them and they only sent 1 antenna when they recalled it) and my Tungsten E (which I've been pretty happy with, too).
People will be glad to be able to reach me, again - when I would grab one thing and go, it would ALWAYS be my Palm, sorry phone!
That said, I sure wish they would release it already - Nov 5, then Nov 13, now Nov 20... !

I think they will release the first of December or a couple of weeks before christmas.


I believe palm and cingular are waiting so they can hit the christmas rush and gett the biggest sales markets they can.

So aside from memory (which has 3x as much as my 650), and the camera (don't really mind) does the 680 have 3G? Is that the same as EDGE?

3G is high speed data so like evdo,uhtsm, hdpas, edge and i think that is it.

I think it's faster. EDGE isn't the same thing. I need to do more homework. My 650 is slow as molasses.

You are right . . EVDO is supposed to be about 5 times faster than edge. Your milage may vary . . Then, HSDPA (GSM Network Highspeed) is supposed to be slightly faster than EVDO, however, HSDPA is not currently widely available, so most people picking up the latest Cingular phone with the highspeed ability will still be using an EDGE network, until Cingular gets it distributed across the nation . .
