2nd 700p helpppppppp - Treo Forums

this is my second 700p and again it seems to freeze when i get a sms message not all the time and not from any certain person.
i really love the treo 700p i was a 650 user before this .
the only third party soft ware i have is zlauncher ,volume care, bug me , treo alarm, holidates . i have checkers ,sudoku , sea war and hot reverse, all of this worked fine on my 650. and yes i did make sure that all the version where for the 700p before i installled them. please someone out there in that wonderfull world of treo lovers help me .

How did you get all your apps, etc. from the first 700p to the new one? Restore from a backup or a sync? If you had an SMS problem before, and you did one of those two things, you may have brought a corrupted file or .db that's still giving you the same trouble. Try deleting the SMS files from your Treo and your backup folder and see if that helps.

yes i did a hot sync and palmone tech support had me use my old back up folder . any more suggestion. do you think that it may have something to do with versamail? cause that checks for mail every so often? thanks for the responce. also can you walk me through the steps im still a novice with this treo. what files should i delet? and what db? should i hard reset? create a new back up folder? should re add all my third party software ?

...but did you delete the sms database from the folder before you did a sync. If it was bad, and it's still in the folder, even if you do a hard reset, you're just putting the corrupted data back on the new Treo.

Sorry, I wrote that 1st post without reading your entire post. Do you have any type of file manager? If not, try FileZ, which is free, and a lot of people use.

Once you have that, take a look for the files Messages Database and MessageStoreLibrary and delete them. (I haven't had to do this with the 700p and the new file names. If anyone wants to add/correct me, please jump in. )

On your computer, go to your backup folder. It's probably somewhere like c:\palm\phillydark(or your Treo username)\backup. Look for those same files and delete them, too. If you don't, they'll go right back on.

ok i have zlauncher and i see messege database i delete that i see messagestore library it wont let me delet that it sayserro rom based database(dm 020E)
now that i delete all of that and the stuff from the back up folder should i create a new back up folder?

No, keep the same backup folder. If the message file is gone from the Treo and the backup folder, when you sync you should have everything back except for the messages and hopefully you'll be trouble-free.

im going to do the hard reset now i hope all is good. what about the message store library not being deleted?

I think you'll still be ok. I haven't deleted mine since getting the 700, but if the other file was locked, I don't think that will be a problem.

a quick question for you could any thing elese like versamail or power down key cause this ? for some reason im thinking that when a text is coming through something else is happening that is why it is only doing this sometimes? also i see that alot of treo users have the ludusp what is that for
