Default #4 The Lucky Charm?

OK, getting a "Brand New In the Box" 700p tomorrow. After the problems with the previous three, along with the fact that my initial installation of the Palm Software was done over "old" Palm (Sony Clié) software, I think I'm going to uninstall All Existing Palm/Sony software from my PC, and start fresh from scratch with this one. I figure this way, if something IS CORRUPT, I won't be carrying it over to the new device. A couple of questions. I'm not so concerned with all the "little stuff" I'm gonna loose ( Blazer Cookies, Bookmarks, Wallpapers, Speed Dialing) etc. I can take a day and re-program all these. I'll FREAK however if I loose my schedule & 900 contacts! From my Palm Desktop I went to "Contacts", hit "Export", and called them a backup file & sent them to my storage hard drive, then did the same thing with "Schedule".Is this all that's necessary to save them? When I re-install the Palm software, will I simply be able to go to "Contacts" & "Schedule", click on "Import", pull up the backup file, & and have them all magically return to the appropriate places? I'd sure appreciate any help/suggestions from anyone who's done this.Once the phone's activated, & I hot sync & get my contacts & schedule back, I'm going to "slowly" start one by one with UM, Cleanup, Signature files, Wireless Sync etc., & see how it behaves I'd really like this to be my "keeper Treo" LOL.." The desktop should be able to import your PIM files, it did on mine when I first started messing with Palms. The method you are speaking of, exporting them and then reimporting them works, though I did it only one time when I wanted to find out how to do it. My suggestion though is to make sure you keep the files in case something goes wrong.

The Export/Importing of Schedule & Contacts worked like a charm! The only thing I'd like to tell anyone who's going to do this, is that when Exporting your Contacts, be sure to hit "Edit", "Select All" before doing the "Export". Otherwise you're going to be exporting only the ONE (1) contact that's highlighted at the time. This one almost caught me BIG TIME .

*It's not necessary to do this with the "Schedule".

Just glad I did a trial run before I uninstalled and reinstalled the software
