| 650 to 700p...worth the upgrade? I am currently with Cingular and own a Treo 650. My contract is up and I am considering upgrading to the 700p with Sprint and port my number over. I see that there's a seller on Ebay that sells the 700p with Sprint for $99 with a two year contract. I can probably sell my 650 for around $200 on Ebay after that...so out of pocket cost isn't anything. What are your experiences? Do you think Cingular will be getting the new 750 in a PALM OS? How is Sprint service compared to Cingular? Signal good? How is their internet packages? Is the Sprint TV worth it? I know...many questions...thanks in advance! |

| BTW...does Ringo Pro, Voice Dial and ZLauncher work on the 700p? I found out that Agendus Pro works...how about the rest? Will I run into any huge software compatability problems? I have a lot of programs that I want to keep using on a regular basis. Thanks for that too! |

I know...many questions...thanks in advance! | I had Cingular briefly before switching to Sprint about a year and a half ago. For me, the signal's been fine but that would really depend on your areas of usage (work, home, transit, etc.). Sprint TV's not worth it if you're not in an EvDO area (I'm not). I've read that people in EvDO coverage areas still have problems with frame rate and such. Quote:

Thanks for that too! | I've used Agendus Pro (now Premiere) on my 700p with no problems lately. There was a slight problem when the 700 first came out, but Iambic fixed that with an update. ZLauncher works fine. I don't use Ringo or Voice Dial, so I can't speak to those. Many other developers have updated their apps to be compatible with the 700p. I'd check for the latest releases for all your apps to make sure that, if you do switch, you have minimal problems.

| I'm in the Detroit metro area, so I SHOULD be in a good EvDO area...I will check on that before I make the decision. Is it easy to use your phone as a modem for a laptop? I hear that's a great addition to the 700p and the unlimited acess is pretty cheap with Sprint. |

| I use mine as a modem but not through Sprint. I use PDANet, which I've used since the 650.

I could get around paying the higher cost of Sprint's phone as modem thing? I know their cheapest plan is their power vision for $15 a month...that's a great price if PDANet can use that one...I don't HAVE to connect my laptop...I just figured that would be a great deal if I could. |

| I have PDANet licenses for my Treo 600, 650 and 700p and it works fine on the 600 and 650 and not that great on the 700p. Seriously, before buying it, give it a good work out. No refunds is their policy. Ben

KD, have you noticed any difference between your 650 and the 700 with PdaNet? I noticed on their web site, they specifically name the 700p so I figured if they supported it, it would work as good with the 700 as the 650. I would be curious as to what the problems are you are experiencing.

It always works slightly better via USB than bluetooth but, other than that, I have no issues.
