I tried just installing the Sprint Connection software - it would not work without also buying the $40 plan. I am on the $20 plan (so called Unlimited!).

So, I went to JuneFabrics.com and downloaded the trial version. IT worked! I have no idea what kind of speed to expect. I get between 400 and 780 Kbps on download, but upload is absolutely abissmal. LUcky to get 5 Kbps upload. Sometimes, when trying to send a file up it just hangs. Have no idea if this is a throttle put in place if you dont have the $40 plan, or if it is just the way EVDO is working where I am trying it. I have only 2 to 3 bars of reception. For the infrequent use I expect, I will probably spend the $35 for the JuneFabrics software.

ok i downloaded pda net, that is amazing, now the disclaimer says they are not responsible for charges incurred by service provider. do you know, if i have the 25 dollar vision plan through sprint, can they charge me for extra data by not getting the modem plan, or if i purchase pda net is that the only time i will have to pay, and i can surf anywhere at my own free will

If they see a huge amount of data, then I believe they have the right to suspend your account. Has this happened? Not often and I don't see any reports of this here at ET -- and PDANet is a very popular product.

Exclamation PDANet/Sprint

Hi, all. I do fancy myself as a PDANet/Sprint "expert" in these matters (on the 650). I use this FANTASTIC product for 95% of ALL surfing and 100% of ALL updates to my various enterprise networks (individual systems as well). There has been NO PROBLEM WITH SPRINT on overages. I have gone over 1G easily per session with multiple sessions per day. Now that I have received my 700p, I am downloading the latest version as we speak and will begin testing this weekend fully expecting the SAME FANTASTIC results (only faster). A+++ application and support from June Fabrics since last August.

P.S. THE ONLY THIRD PARTY APPLICATION EVER USED/PURCHASED SO FAR (maybe they should pay me for this - Hummmm).

Respectfully submitted.

Default 700p as modem

Jmjii,

Please (re my post) check your upload speed. I used the speakeasy speed tester
Speakeasy - Speed Test
and others. I am VERY curious about your speed tests, conditions, number of bars,
time of day, etc...

Thanks in advance.

Informative Speed Test

Will be happy to help and download Speed Test after this session. Unfortunately still working with 650 through this weekend sometime. Will test both 650/700p for you. As for conditions/bars/time of day, ALL weather conditions/bars suck at one if lucky two (live too close to six towers so I'm in the "doughnut")/ALL weather conditions apply.

Respectfully - J

Arrow Test Results (650)

Conditions at time of test on 650 with your link from their LA site (2X): 40 MPH wind with 50 MPH gusts/1 bar/104 up and 45 down (still better than any dial-up I or my clients ever receive).

Will get back be back with with another 650 test and the 700p results Sunday or Monday.

Respectfully submitted.
