Default 700p as a modem

Ok, please let me start off as saying PDANet or USB Modem is not an option. I have learned that EVDO is built into the 700p and this allows it to be set up as a modem without any 3rd party apps. I have tried numerous times to get this to work and it is just not happening for me.

We have a Goodlink server and an unlimited data plan.

I am connecting the Treo 700p to the laptop via USB. Is this my problem? In the User Manual for the Treo, it gives directions to connect via bluetooth. Is this the only way? I do not have bluetooth on my laptop. Am I sh*t out of luck?

Default Tether

I know it's not the most timely response ever but I just got here
anyways did you resolve your problem
palm has a tether app that you can download off the website
that should enable you to setup your usb dun connection
also they have instructions you can follow step by step

hope this helps

If you opt not to use one of the above, then make sure you are prepared with a good plan; Sprint charges extra for this and that is a reason why I use PDANet. Ben

Default Modem

Bluetooth might be an option for you as well
and depending whether or not you have a laptop/desktop with BT
already installed you might need to get a BT adaptor cost = 20$U.S. ish
the freedom of the BT is nice, I think the throughput on the USB or Tether
is a little better.

Sorry I just reread your post...
I am a little slow sometimes

yeah if your laptop doesn't have BT enabled then you
can buy a usb adaptor (Dongle) fairly inexpensive
and amazingly easy to setup.

Thank you for your replies. I work in the IT department of a law firm and I am trying to get this straightened out so the 20 + Treo users in our firm can have this capability. One of them being my boss.

We have an unlimited data plan. Talking to our Sprint representative, there will be no extra fees and this should be able to work without any 3rd party apps. Incurring any extra costs to get this set up is NOT an option. I need to get this running with what I currently have.

I get everything installed and the laptop sees the Treo and all tests are passed. I just cannot get to the point of actually dialing up. Error #678 is what I get every time.
