Default Palm's response

“Clem”

Regarding your response to this case.

I asked you if you are aware of the problems that users were having between their 700p and their bluetooth headsets and I provided the below attached links. You did not answer that question.
Please respond to that that question.

I did not report to you in the initial message that I was unable to pair with a bluetooth headset but yet you offered the below attached solution.

While I do not have a bluetooth headset at this time because none of them would operate correctly with the 700p I will be trying another brand in the near future.

I look forward to your response to the questions asked here.

I just ordered the H700 BT headset since it was listed as compatible and I also have the IHF1000 car kit, again listed as compatible. But the pairing issues is real and I have sent my request in for support on this. I removed any identifing names since Palm has now added that you cannot post their responses (per their email response) without permission. In other words they don't want us telling everyone about the disinformation out there.

I wonder if the tweaks made by the carriers is what ulimately causes the problems or if its just poor implementation on the OEM's side.

I will give them a few days to chew on this then I will email back for an update using their original response.

I replaced my phone and the rebooting issue (so far) seems to be gone, but the BT issue remains. I sent a new case into Palm clearly pointing out that there is an issue.

1) I paired my Treo 700p with a Moto IHF1000 car kit out of the box, nothing on it. It paired, BUT, if I turned the BT off then back on then the phone would not pair unless I soft reset the Treo 700p

2) I have tested this with my apps all installed, same issue.

3) Yesterday I did have my BT off then bank on when I went home at the end of the day, my phone did pair up (no soft reset prior to it) so I am wondering if there is something with proximity and BT on/off status, not sure.

I got the standard BS response that Palm will need to research it and get back to me. Bottom line is they know theirs quirks and while you cannot find every little quirk or bug, a but in BT is a HUGE issue. I still cannot get my Treo 700p to pair with my Powerbook Pro.

That sucks... you would think someone would show them this thread and they'd know it was a main issue they need to fix.

Wow, sorry to hear that and a bit surprised. I've had no issues pairing with my PowerBook. It's not the MacBook Pro, but the previous model. In fact, it said I could use the device as a modem. I haven't, but was surprised to see this.

I'm sure Palm knows what is happening and a firmware update is coming. Hopefully, it will be sooner than later.

I bought a new 700P about three weeks ago. I took it back within the first week because it kept locking up. Got a new one and used a Motorola H700 BT headset with it and when it was connected it worked fine. Like everyone else, it kept losing the connection and would not automatically reconnect. It would generally reconnect if I folded the mouthpiece to the closed position (turning the headset off) then opening it again. However, I lost that headset and just bought a replacement H700 two days ago. It never has worked right. It shows a connection, but audio will not transfer from the phone to the headset. I am about ready to give-up on BT all together.

I was wondering if anyone had any experience with the Palm Treo BT headset. I thought it might work better since its offered by the handset manufacterer?

Anyone got any solutions?
