I use the Treo BT headset. It does stay connected. The volume is not real loud & when the volume is all the way up callers hear an echo. So I keep it 2 steps below the highest volume & its fine. 2 problems with it #1 is it drains the battery very fast, even with limited calls during the day - without the headset paired the battery life is pretty good. #2 there is static I hear even within a few feet of the phone. Because of those issues I rarely use the headset. In the software fix if the battery issue is fixed I will use the headset more & prob. buy one thats better quality like the JX10

It would generally reconnect if I folded the mouthpiece to the closed position (turning the headset off) then opening it again. I am about ready to give-up on BT all together.

I was wondering if anyone had any experience with the Palm Treo BT headset. I thought it might work better since its offered by the handset manufacterer?

    Anyone got any solutions?

    OK,
Here is how to get the BT to somewhat work, at least this works for me.

I am using a Plantronics BT and the Moto worked the same way.
Start by turning on your BT, with your Treo in phone mode you should see the BT icon turn to a headset. The Treo does not stat in communication with your BT all the time, after about 1 minute the headset icon will go back to the BT icon.
If a call comes in push your BT button on your phone, give it 10 seconds or so and it will connect. Treo icon goes back to the headphones.
To place a call push your BT button on your earpiece the Treo icon should go back to the headphones icon, (in about 10 seconds) then dial your number.
This is how it seems to work provided you have a compatable BT from the list on Palms website.
However a major step down from my Moto phone BT connection at least this seems to work until there is a better fix.
    Give it a try.

Default Work around for bluetooth headsets

After considerable pain I have found a somewhat reliable workaround for bluetooth headset connection problems. This work around assumes that you were able to link your headset with the Treo 700p at some point. Essentially, if you make sure you turn off the bluetooth headset BEFORE you physically separate the Treo 700p and the headset, and then turn back on the headset ONLY after the Treo 700p is in range, then most of the time the two will work together fairly consistantly. Separating the headset and Treo 700p without turning off the headset appears to cause most of the problem.

Also, a soft reset will usually fix connection problems (and is required in my experience,) if you forget to turn off the headset before getting out of range, as otherwise the headset is only partially connected for some reason.

Palm needs to fix this as it seems to be a problem with virtually every bluetooth headset out there.

    Default Treo Work Around Feedback

Thanks for posting the workaround. I was about to warranty replace my wife's 3-week old 700p for this problem. Tried the fix and it worked perfectly! I have moved her Jabra BT500 charger to her desk, next to the cradle for her phone, so that the headset is never out of range when it is turned on and off (it was the charging that was causing the un-pairing in her case). Called Sprint and stopped the warranty phone from shipping. When I explained why I was canceling the new phone, they were so interested in this solution that they asked me to print out the fix and fax it to them. Your efforts may save a lot of other 700p users going through the same agony. Thanks again!

I also had noticed that being out of range with my headset is when I would have the trouble with my bluetooth connection. For example, I would have my headset on in the car and would walk into a store with it on, while leaving the phone in the car. I also noticed that it is worse when the charge is low on the headset battery; at that point, it won't repair even after a reset. In that case, if I recharge both the phone, I have better luck, although at times I need to completely delete the device from my phone and start all over.

Perhaps with paying more attention to not letting the two from each other's site, I will have better luck. I use a Jabra 250V. Although I am getting kind of used to the wired on and have been using it consistently while in the car. I don't like using it outside the car, though.
