Default 700p Bluetooth Staying Connected Issue

Is there a problem with the new 700p bluetooth function? I have tried several different headsets (Scala-500 & Plantronics Discovery 640) and after a few minutes of non-use after paired, they automatically become un-paired (disconnected) and I would have to manually press the button on the headset to restart the connection. I am not sure if it is my particular phone/unit or is it a known bug. Any idea or anyone with a similiar problem?

    Default Poor 700p bluetooth

It's actually a well-known issue with the 700p. It's not just your Treo or your headsets. According to the rumor mill, Palm is working on an update to fix the issue.

    Question

I am having a similar problem and it is getting a bit frustrating.

The little blue headphone signifying the bluetooth connection is there. The lights blink properly on the headset and if I go into the bluetooth menu on the Treo I see the device is trusted, etc. I have deleted and readded several times.

I have the Motorola H700 headset. It is paired, etc. and I can initaite a call by pressing the call button (the headset beeps as it should), however, the sound from the call does not come to the headset, but comes out of the phone speaker. This is also true if I iniate a call from the phone itself.

I am not sure what to do to fix this. It did work the first day I got the headset last week, but not since.

I had similar connection problems with the Voyager 510 Plantronics.

I went out and got the Motorola H700. Small. Works perfect. PERFECT.

    No connection problems.

The 700p is simply not compatible with all headsets.

Go get the H700. You'll love it.

As in the previous note, I have the H700 and it is not working perfect for me.

So far the only way I seem to find stability is to reset the treo by taking the battery out and putting it back in.

When it comes back up, I can use the headset with no problem.

I'll let you know how long this lasts.

It is not an ideal solution by far, but it is something.

I just received the following from the forum at Palm:

Do a soft reset using the button in the battery compartment I had this same problem a while back with mine. Try doing a soft reset using the button in the battery compartment. Do not soft reset the handheld using a software program with a reset function. You must use the button in the battery compartment.

    I hope this helps....

Here is the answer I got from Palm today:

The memory of your H700 BT headset may have encountered an error. To correct this, you can flush the memory by resetting the headset. Since this is a third-party device (Motorola), you will need to contact the manufacturer for specific instructions.

I also recommend that you perform a soft reset on your Treo smartphone. This comes in handy if your device exhibits unexpected behavior. Please follow the instructions below.

A soft reset will restart your Treo smartphone. This type of reset does not delete your personal data or the applications you've added.

    • Turn off the screen of your smartphone and wait a few seconds.
    • Take off the battery cover.
    • Using the tip of the stylus, depress the RESET button and release.
Alternate method: If your stylus is not handy, or you prefer this quick and easy method, here's another way to perform a soft reset. The effect is the same as above.

    • If charging, disconnect your smartphone from its charger.
    • Turn off the screen of your smartphone and wait a few seconds
    • Take off the battery cover, then remove the battery for approximately one second.
    • Re-insert the battery and replace the cover.

Well it works if you do this everytime you want to use Bluetooth.
That gets old after a while.
    Need a fix ASAP Palm!

smokediver said it best. I agree that THIS IS GETTING OLD!!!!!

I really like this 700p and find most functions useful (except the Sprint TV seems to be pretty useless), but having so many issues with keeping bluetooth going is just unsettling.
