My Treo does not have a wifi device itself installed. I know they have wifi in building because I have seen some kids with laptops doing internet in building.

That was my suspicion a bit but had never noticed it before with this Treo and had been in many motels with it in last few months with wifi and never noticed the problem.

Yes. My daughter has another kind of phone (not a pda), my son-in-law has the Treo 650, and my middle daughter a motorola razor. Not one of them has the problem.
