Default 700p sluggish

Hello to all, I have had my 700p for about 6 months now and I am generally happy with it. But it often gets a wee bit sluggish when changing inbetween screens. I have done a soft reset and that only seems to a little. Any suggestions?????

It is a Palm OS feature, also known as a bug and there is little you can do about it other than pay attention to the amount of free memory and free db cache. The more memory the operating system has to clear, the longer it takes.

Here is to hoping that Palm addresses this in a firmware update soon!

They really should, though it is rare that it happens for an "extended" period for me and yes it is aggrevating - though frankly with all the device does, it is one of two things that I live with and have accepted. The other thing I have a complaint about is the Bluetooth implimentation - it works with one headset but not the other and my Nextel works with both.

What you can do to minimize "lag" time is to monitor the db cache and clear it as needed. It can be done manually using an application such as MemoryInfo or automagically with a utility such as Preference Doctor. The correct setting within Preference Doctor (deteremined by you during testing) will minimize the lag, though it will be there to hit you when you do some surfing via the web browser.

it is speeding up the CPU on the device. It is usually is recommend for games and emulated apps. But I have heard that this cuts lag down in half.

**But u need to know what your are doing/computer knowledge before you go off and do that.*** If you don't know what you are doing u could potentional blow your device up.

U can research about if and if you fell comfortable enough try www.palmpowerups.com and look for a UMDH. I recommend small steps/increasion if you attemp this.

Here is an article to read about Overclocking:

http://www.hardwaresecrets.com/article/73

Hope that helps?

Also if you don't need to save all of your sms deleting them once in awhile will help cut down lag. I you have to save them then try treodesktop.

It can back up all your phonecall.pdb, sms.pdb and so on. Use google, ask, or one of the search engines.

I tried it and was not overly impressed. The person who sent me the file loved the response on his 650 and on my 650 is was nice, but the over all speed was not significant. On the 700 it made no difference. The problem is with the OS and until that is fixed we will all have to put up with the occasional slow down. No way around it. Ben

My slowdowns are usually when I exit out of Blazer. It can sometimes take as long as a minute for Blazer to shutdown and zLauncher to show on the screen. What can I do? I've got just over 20 mb free on my 700p.
