700p Versamail pop email smtp server setup?

I am trying to setup versamail with various pop email accounts I have. I have used a treo 650 previously (on an European phone provider - works fine) - now I am trying to set up the same accounts on my Verizon Wireless treo 700p
I have tried all possibleof smtp servers and also the smtp.vzwmail.net with my vztext.com password - as mentioned on the palm help site ..... nothing lets me send out an email !?
does anyone have an idea !? Thx

I thought European providers were all GSM. Verizon is CDMA. The phone works with a European provider?

one is my Austrian phone - bought in Austria - GSM - unlocked working with my Austrian phone provider A1 and the 700p I just got here in FL on Verizon ... what I would like to do is access the same emails I am able to access via my Austrian GSM phone (in Austria and in FL - when roaming!?) on my Verizon 700p
