Default 700P with only charge with USB cable

I have a AC, auto, and the USB sync cables. When I use all of them they all show the changer thing on the battery, and the red led lights. HOWEVER the battery level only increases when I use the USB Sync cable.

    What up with that????

This is a problem as I just got a new computer with VIsta 64bit and it appears the palm software play well with Vista 64.

Well there is a new version of Hotsync on Palm's website that is compatible with Vista. However, I just reinstalled the old crusty version from the original CD and it seems to work just as good on my Vista machine.

As for your other issues, the lightning bolt only indicates connection, not power. Check the pins on the chargers as well as the connecter on the bottom of the phone. Make sure they are ok and free of dust.

Which ver of Vista are you running??

The Palm software works fine on any ver, however the USB drivers for the phone do not work on Vista 64.

The lightning bolt over the battery only indicates connection, not power OK if you say so.

    I will recheck the plugs.

    Thanks for the help.

Yeah, that is not exactly how I intended that to come off. Of course the bolt does indicate a charge. I just meant that had a situation where I was plugging in the USB cable and the lightning bolt appeared but the battery would drain. After examining the connections, there was dust stuck on one of the connectors. Once I removed the dust, it charged fine. So even though it was registering a connection, it wasn't receiving enough juice to charge the bat.

I am not expert nor claim to be a guru, just sharing a similar experience I had with my USB cable.

    Default Charging issue

I also have a problem where I can only charge using the USB cable. If I plug the power supply into the 700P I get the lightning bolt but the battery discharges. I have checked the contacts on both the power supply and the phone and cannot see any dirt, dust or corrosion.

Any ideas as to what else I should look for?

I have not found a fix yet. I have one computer left in the house where I can charge my phone, plus a 2nd battery. That is what is getting me by for now. Hope it lasts till the new Palm Pre comes out. Other wise I may get a Iphone:frown:

I saw where blackberry uses a USB plug to charge as well. They have a little plug thing that fits over the end of the USB cable and that plugs in to an auto 12 volt plug. I would think that USB Plug thing should fit on our USB cable as well, and then we could change in the auto as well. I just have not bought one to try.

Also if you check in the online store here there is a battery only charger you can buy. You take the battery out of the phone and place it in the charger to change. You would need a 2nd battery so you could still use your phone. Again I have not bought one.

Sorry I can't be of more help.
