    Default A few questions ...

Hi all, I just bought a Treo 700p and I'm very confused with it! This is my first smartphone, in fact, it's the first one I've even held!! The main features I wanted were the qwerty keyboard and the calendar. I often forget when I have things to do and keeping a planner doesn't help, because I forget to look at it! But, I always know where my phone is.

So, my questions that I'm hoping someone here can help me with are:

    1. Figured this one out!

    2. I also can't figure out how to add in speed dial numbers to my contacts.

    3. When I turn on bluetooth capabilities it doesn't switch over. I have to do a soft restart and then 9 times out of 10 it turns back on and the bluetooth is working (it says it's switched as soon as I turn it on, but it doesn't actually go to the bluetooth).

Thanks to anyone who can help me out!!

You might also check out an application called TakePhone (www.s - shsh.com) it does an excellent job in the world of speed dialing and oddities like that.

    For the calender thing: Datebook6

For the Bluetooth thing - never had a problem with it on any of my Palm devices. Are you speaking of the headset?

    atlbroker, thanks for the tip!

I will look at datebook6, I just got takephone and 2day downloaded, so I'm having a look at all of that.

Bluetooth, yes, I'm talking about the headset. I switch it on the handset to receive calls on my bluetooth headset, but the calls don't go to the headset until I've done a soft restart on the headstart.

I'm also having an awful time trying to figure out how to hotsync. I do have Vista. I have the 6.2 downloaded onto my desktop, but when I hook it up to the handset with the usb cable, the handset eventually says that it can't communicate with the desktop.

Do you have vista 32bit or vista64 bit? There are NO USB drives for Vista 64bit. The only way you can sync is to do it by blue tooth, the USB cable does NOT work.

If you can, I would return the 700P and get a 700wx or 755w or 800w. They run on a windows based OS and are well supported. Palm has just about killed off the support for their palm software. The Vista 64bit drive problem has only been known for 2 years and they still have not fixed it.

Note I have a 700P my self and I'm looking to replace it as well.

Hi, I'm almost out of my window for returning my phone, so I don't know if that will be an option, but I can look into it. As for Vista, I don't know how to check to see if it's 32 or 64bit. I tried syncing both with the cable and with bluetooth, but the phone didn't "see" the computer, so maybe there's something I have to do to the computer first.

Thanks for all of the info!

Right click on my computer, and select the properties option in the menu.

You will get the following screen.

Look for what I have circled in red.

If it is Vista 64bit then the only way to sync is by blue tooth

THANKS! Yup, it's 64 bit. So, I still should be able to sync with bluetooth. We'll see lol
