System Tools or Repair After Reading 71 pages....I need some help that I didn't see on here.

I have a Palm Treo 700p (Verizon)...I updated to the latest firmware (1.11 or something like that. Now every time I try to run the CDMA Updater to update my PRL or back up my NVBackUp it either gives me this error

""The Treo update operation failed. Please re-run Radio Firmware Updater and if it continues to fail consult tech support".

Thats what i get when i run CDMAUpdater for Update PRL...

When I do the NvBackUp...it just crashes...is my radio bricked or is there something I can do to fix it...any help would appreciative. I am flashing this over to Cricket and I have a cable on the way, but I'd really like for my CDMAUpdater to work as well....

I am using a 4 GB SDHC card, I don't know if that's the problem or not...

    Oh yeah...I'm new...so hi

I guess I am the only one who's had this problem.

The CDMA updater to update the PRL? I must be confused. The CMDA updater updates the ROM, not the PRL. That is done with a phone call or something like that with Sprint.

What I am trying to do is flash the Treo over to Cricket.

Not Sprint (no where in my explanation on the first post did I say anything about Sprint)

So this is called a cableless flash...but it's not working. Here are the steps (took pictures)

After reading your card and pushing the little blank icon this shows up

Then you hit the left top hand side of the screen and Debug comes along

In the debug screen you uncheck everything except update PRL

    Like so

Then you hit ok and this pops up

    But I get this error

But don't worry about helping me....I have only posted this problem on every treo website i could find and I couldn't get anyone to help me there either.

Ok, those are options I have not seen before and do not match the ROM update patches I have come across on my Palm Treo/Centro devices. Good luck.

i have the same problem with 700p for Sprint
I messed around with rom files (changed ESN and got it cloned with my other sprint phone) however when I tried poking around in ROM to set up simple IP for 1x.... the phone went

did you do anything with your NV Backup file?

I could never get a NVBackUp file to save...I have to get mine from someone else (well actually already have them)...so I'll be working with those when I get my cable.

ok, i got it to work today through shear luck.

at first i noticed that my "CDMA updater" did not have an Icon, it just said "CDMA updater" I remembered that this File used to have an Icon, so i decided to give it one more try. I am guessing that my SD card had both CDMA updater and ROM updater and since treo tries to pull a fast one on you by reading *.prc files as it likes.... sometimes i may cause a problem.

    1. Hard reset the Phone
    2. Load 700pSDupdate.prc to SD card
    3. Load Filez.prc to SD card
    4. Using Filez copy the CDMA updater file to the phone
    5. the "customizer' folder that comes with update contains few separate "CDMAupdate***" files. I copied them to phone just as they were, without the folder
    6. Now my treo showed one "CDMA updater" with icon in Launcher.
    7. I ran the CDMA updater with one feature at a time
    1st - FW update
    2nd - PRL update
    8. to my surprise after that the phone started working again.

if this doesn't work i would suggest hard resetting the phone again and then copying all of files from SD update to phone and then trying to run it from phone again.

double check that SD update and your NV data are from the same carrier.

    here is the Filez.prc

notice it looks to be in .zip format but it isn't. just remove the .zip ending.
It wouldn't let me upload any other way.

Im not worried about it anymore...I have a cable coming in so I can flash this phone over to Cricket (which is what I am trying to do...not Sprint or whatever). Thanks for the help.
