| Anyone have a stable 700p? I have read all the negative stuff about lags, constant resets, poor battery life etc. I have had none of these experiences.
I am a power user and have many 3rd party programs that are regularly used to the full. The only thing I don't use it for is to pair with a bluetooth headset.
I have seen no need for a MR. I have had the same 700p for about 9 months now. What is up? Do I just have some freak of Treo or what?
I would appreciate hearing from you about this subject. |

| I have had my Verizon 700p for nearly a year. I don't have any 3rd party apps because I wanted to make sure it was stable. I didn't get a Bluetooth headset because of the reported problems and have been waiting for the update before I get one. I bought several apps recently but haven't taken the time to install them. BUT I use all the built in features constantly and go on-line multiple times a day. I have had to do a soft reset only two or three times and do not experience any lags or lockups. I am very happy with my 700p's performance. |

| That is interesting Now that is interesting. I know of 2 other 700p users, now 3 that have not installed 3rd party apps and they have few if any problems. How about it are there any others in this boat? |

| Prior to the Sprint MR - YES, after the Sprint MR - NO. Clearing that up a bit, after working through the problem of two applications resetting when playing together, I am back to having a stable Sprint Treo 700p. It has been frustrating getting back to where I was.
One thing about the lag - it is really there when leaving Blazer. In most other instances I would look closely at signal strength and data signal integrity. In an area of low signal strength I would and do experience a lag; in other areas, none at all.
I gained nothing by doing the MR.

| I have been told that the lag that occurs after closing blazer is simply due to the fact that we have the cache set to dump after closing - sounds plausible. Is it possible that there really is nothing wrong with the 700p and that it is a 3rd party issue? I'm not trying to make light of the frustration of many, but have found it interesting that more are saying that possibly there is a different issue involved altogether.&Again this coming from one who has 3rd party apps working wonderfully. |

| No, not possible. Too many developers are top of the line not to be able to work the problem out.
Long, long ago, shortly after the 700P came to being, a wise man from the land of Palm told a small listening audiance the true nature of the lag. The saga goes something like this, the 700P and the 700W were born of much of the same stock, with parts specifically designed for the Winsleep operating system used in the creation of the 700P. As a result of this birthing issue, the Legend of the Lag was begun and has continued to influence us.
The Legend of the Lag loves to show himself upon the exiting of the Blazer entity. The clearing of the cache, the indexing of the OS, those are all issues this birthing has created. In addition, due to the Treo's operating system not being a "multi-tasking" individual, it will appear to hang up or lag or whatever it is called in instances of low signal strength, logging into the data network, the mailer logging in to the mail servier, and other hexing situations.
There is no complete cure, the magical Maintenance Release reduced the issue to a level that most of us peasants can work with, it did not totally eliminate it.

Do I just have some freak of Treo or what? | Being a user who's on his Fourth (that's right, I said #4), 700p, I'd say yeah, you're the lucky one who got a "Freak". Count your blessings.I have no third party apps, have done fresh "clean installs" with each device, and now this one (#4), just when it appears everything is running smoothly, seems to have developed an "issue" with the Ear Speaker not working properly.Self initiated resets, lags etc., etc.,? Of course. Ben addressed the issue above.I'm here to tell ya however, I think the devices like yours are the exception, NOT THE RULE.I'm happy for you that you have a properly working 700p, but don't for a minute think that all the issues posted here are fabricated, or the fault of some third party apps.Keep your fingers crossed. YOU COULD BE NEXT ha ha.As far as the MR, I'm a Verizon customer, so for me it isn't an issue yet. I will tell you though that when it is finally released for Verizon, the way it's looking now, is that I'm gonna stay away from it........far.......far away!"Hollywood'

| Hollywood, are you still in the warranty period or close to it? If so, I would go for number 5. From your previous experiences, you are the expert now. If they agree to it, I would do a backup of your current device (device based to get everything just right) and install it on the new device.

| Cost and no one had any idea it would cause the problems it did and continues to do. Other than minor problems, I love the 700p and consider it to be the best device I have run across.
