Best Ringtone Tutorial - Treo Forums

Now i've been on Treo boards for a long time even though i just got my new one. I read a lot of ringtone tutorials but none of them work very good and if one does work only 1 of the steps work, so i decided to make my very own!!

Step 1: Get Audicity, itunes.
Step 2: Open up audicity and open the song u want, then edit it so that you only have about 20-30 seconds. Then hit trim under edits. Then find preferences and change the hz to the lowest level. Then go to file format remember were still under pref and on the little pull down change the output to microsoft wav 4 bit. Then on the left side you'll see a little bar where you can increase the volume take it over until it says 12, then export the selection as wav onto the desktop.
Step 3: Now open itunes and hit ctrl o and open the file. Then right click and hit convert to aac. After that take the converted file and drag it to the desktop.
Step 4: Now open up your browser and go to funformobile and upload to the fone using thier upload system.
Step 5: Click on the text message and pres the link and then its easy just save the file to sounds and play it whenever. Enjoy and please leave feedback.

In Audicity, do we use 4bit IMA or MS. this isn't working yet. Hopefully it will. also, when I drag it to the desktop. is it supposed to be a M4a file?

When u got to file format save the file as 4bit microsoft not the other thing. Yes after u drag the file onto the desktop it is supposed to be a m4 file. Try this out and tell me what's up

There are 2 Microsoft 4bit choices. IMA & MS. Which one do I choose?

I email about 4 files at a time totaling a mb or so, guess you can email upto 5mb at a time. Click to the file, right click the file with the 5 way, click select viewer then under viewer click voice memo, click view, accept the file by clicking yes, play the file then copy to ring tone then delete the wav in the voice memo. After the first wav is done goto the email & just click the ringtone & it sends it to voice memo.

Also ringtones sound distored in the voice memo - BUT they are nice & clear in the sounds area.

The ringtones are stored on my card automaticly under the audio file & alphabatized in the ring tones area!

I tried copying a ringtone directly into the audio directory & it did not work.

I tried it again and when I open the message it automaticly tries to play the audio clip, but I don't hear anyhting. I don't think it's palying. At the top of the screen is amic and next to it, it says audio clip. I don't get a choice to save it.

try highlighting the first audio clip with the 5 way then right click, select viewer and go from there. if that works then you can just click the audio clip since its already associated with voice memo
